The MU2 was manufactured by Braden Winch Co, which before it moved to Broken Arrow, Okla, was in Tulsa, Okla., so what you see might be it's hometown rather than brand name. Depending on year of manufacture, Braden might by cast into the cable drum end. The rating grew from 5,000 lbs. during WW II, to 7,500 & 8,000 lbs. during 1940s and 1950s, to 10,000 lbs. in 1960's. All ratings were based on the size and strength of the shear pin, with 7/16" cable being the constant. Cable size does not affect shear pin strength, which for safety reasons should be the limiting factor and "safety valve".
