Dodge Boys is right. You should never have air bubbles. Sometime you might have gas vapor bubbles. This might indicate you have a restriction on the intake side which is causing the supply side pressure to be too low.
If you have a stream of bubbles, the most likely cause is a low-side leak allowing air to be pulled in. Check fittings and, especially look for old, cracked hoses which can cause intermittent leaks.
On our old trucks, it possible to have a pinhole leak in the steel fuel lines.
