If that's the case look for a saw mill in your area that can provide boards that aren't surfaced yet. You'll want to have the bottom side surfaced to get the 3/4" thickness and have them trued. A small rabbet is cut in each edge to allow the bed strips to set down almost flush with the wood. The center boards are 5 1/2" wide and the outer two are 9 1/2".
