Unless yours are truly ruined, there's no need to change them. Copper seems inherently dangerous just because it's thin and weak, unless they sell some special extra-heavy line just for brake duty. I have a section of air line out of a WWII submarine, what they used to blow the ballast tanks, that has a 1/2" ID and a 1-1/2" OD. 1/2" thick walls could hold some serious pressure. But it sounds like what they're offering you is just type L or M water tubing. It may work fine until that time you have to stomp on the brakes with all your strength to avoid running over somebody. Remember you've only got a single brake circuit too, so if any line blows, you lose all your brakes.
