The 2" square Class 3 receiver on my 1947 WDX bolts into the 4 factory holes on the bottom of the rear cross member that were punched there for mounting the rear draw bar. Using those holes pretty well centers the receiver on the truck. If I ever give up towing with the WDX, the receiver can be completely removed by undoing four bolts. In the meantime, its on there pretty well.

The receiver tube proper is lowered by 2" below the bottom of the rear cross member to give adequate clearance from things above it, such as the pillow block. This was accomplished by welding flush with the top of the two large pieces of angle iron a piece of 2" square tube (visible to the left of the silver cast eye) that matches the depth of the angle iron pieces and lowers the receiver tube by 2 inches. Enjoy!
