Thanks, "D", Chris, Mike, and Dan for your input.
To address a few issues: My primary reason for wanting the disconnect switch was to reduce the chance of electrical fire during periods of non-use. Much wiring has been replaced, but there is still some old stuff under the dash. Also to be considered is the possibility of rodent activity. As far as theft, I doubt if many people in my area have the ability to even start a PW, no less make it move. If stolen I would imagine it would be via flatbed.
The switch I have is a Perko marine switch so contact corrosion should not be an issue. I have also determined that the torque rating of the starter is 335 amps.,within the rating of the switch. The CCA rating of my battery is 810 amps.,but as stated, if for any reason amperage draw came anywhere near that point many other things would already be smoking.
I also like the idea of just 'switching' the primary feed. I was thinking of doing something like this in case I had to get 'jumped' with a 12 volt battery to protect the truck's 6 volt system...Yes, my gas gage still works. All that would be required is a temporary jumper from battery to coil.
Again, thanks for all the input....Decisions....Decisions.
