The trip to Whitefish would be more scenic if you came north from Coeur d'Alene to Sandpoint, then travel east to Whitefish. There are 3 or 4 different routes, which you can check out on Google earth. Remember you will lose an hour going into Montana, and from Spokane to Whitefish is about 5 to 6 hours, depending which route you take. Banff is one of the most beautiful places you will see. And there are a few ways to get there from Whitefish. Enjoy the trip.
