Yes ATF+4. I worked part time a few years ago for Tony Garcin @ Dunrite Convertors. He said the biggest reason Chrysler developed that stuff was to prevent convertor chatter. The reason it became a big problem on the diesels is they are low RPM, therefore low pressure in the tranny with a stock VB. He did mention some needed the +4 and others not so much for some reason.
When I changed mine I called him to find out what he used and was surprised at his answer. He was running Walmart brand with a couple quarts of 30 weight non-detergent oil. Said he had discovered years ago drag racing that 30 weight non-d helped prevent the convertor clutch from slipping. Suggested I use 3 qts, which I did along with Walmart tranny fluid. I noticed lockup more positive right away. Not a great amount but it was noticeable
I have run it that way about 4 years now and slipped the convertor for the first time this last winter pulling the TT to the OR coast. I think perhaps the Edge Comp might have had something to do with that along with 178,000 miles. =)
