Uh, back then there were very, very few single stick rigs. Only 2 I knew about.
Where I worked we had 4x3's, 5x3's, a Mack Triplex and one with 5x4 trannies. Can't even find guys that can drive them let alone know what you are talking about.
I used to work part time for an outfit and got new drivers to train sometimes. One of my first questions was if they had ever driven a 2 sticker. Not even 1 knew what I was talking about. A good 5x4 setup with a short 5th in the main box is really pretty hard to beat even with any of the single stick trannies. Just MHO, though.
The one gasser I was around the most back then was an IH with 5x4 boxes. Never saw one with a single stick but probably around.
