IMHO it all depends on mileage/hours. I think that ideally all vehicles should have their oil changed at least twice a year. In practice this is difficult and prohibitvely expensive in a tractor or PW/M37 which may see only 100 hours or 1500 miles in a year. So in that case I make certain I change at least anually with traditional oil. I run synthetic in anything I know is going to get 20K or more a year and change oil at 10 K or when it feels like it needs it. It may seem strange but you can tell when synthetic is ready by it's feel.
