The last couple of years we have been using black silicone made by Permetex. Called Ultra black. Works great, I would have no problem not using the old type gasket. Make sure its clean and dry. And a nice bead around the pan. Let it sit about 10 to 15 min and install. Years ago i would have not agreed. Good Luck Bill.
