I feel your pain. 17 years ago today I had a board kick back on a tablesaw, dragged my middle finger, ring finger and pinky across the blade. They shortened the middle finger about 1/2" took the ring finger off at the first joint above the knuckle and fused the first joint above the knuckle on the pinky. All in all I feel pretty lucky.
Sorry for your injury, my advice is to listen to the physical therapists and do exactly what they tell you to do.
