OT Kohler 14hp head install

I thought I would ask the knowledgeable folks here.
I am rebuilding a Kohler 14hp for a vintage Cub Cadet.
Bored .020 over and I have the internals back in place.
Do I need to spray the head gasket with copper or
something else before I install? The manual does
not mention any sealer. Seams I used a copper spray
when I did a valve job / timing chain on my 74 Jeep 304
(with my leg in a full cast!).

The head is aluminum.
I haven't had the heads off my 318 Poly.
