Timing Chain Cover Seals and Gaskets

I'm putting the timing chain cover back on and I have the 2 gaskets and the seal for the cover, but I also have a round metal piece with a slot in it for the key and a big felt donut shaped thing. I don't know how these 2 things go on. It's been a long time since I took it apart and I can't remember how these 2 items fit in. I know the metal ring goes on the crank shaft, but which way and what about the felt donut?
