From 1951-56, but in 1957 the change was made (for everything of the standard D or W series, not the K6-W300) to a plastic lens and a stainless steel ring. In 1961 a clear plastic lens with a built in chrome painted ring was used, swapped out for a orange lens of the same size without any paint on the outer ring in 1963.
