Probably a lot to that, but like I said....These were down and dirty, quicky, light duty, flatbeds. The pick-up beds being 'shot' gives you an idea of the age and condition of the vehicles. All they were carrying were small loads of fruits and vegetables or a bale or two of hay. The beds were more than adequate for the intended purpose and out-lived the vehicles. It boils down to this; construction is dictated by purpose....Foolish to over build....Foolish to underbuild.
