5 second diesel stall

my john deere 410 backhoe 1993 will only run for 5 seconds on low idle control than stall. this becomes shorter with each try. supply to pump runs clean and fast. after the transfer pump the new glass filter has been installed. pump shot? time for the eletric one bill?
