The Eaton units have head unloaders and a whip valve like gas powered units. You open the ball valve and the whip valve will unload the heads before you hit the pressure shut-off. Prevents cycling of the compressor for heavy workloads.
I use it when I'm doing a lot of blasting as the duty cycle tends to be higher than 50%. Great feature that I haven't seen on competitors.
If you're pushing the limit of your garage electrical it could prevent blowing breakers when you're running it hard.
