I really hate to pay other people to do the work on my truck, even when I know how to do it myself. Something told me in my head, that I didn't want to get involved with ball joints again after changing a set on my earlier truck. I had 180k on the original set of ball joints, and it was high time to change them. We have a fleet mechanic that comes to the shop and works on the company trucks here. He gave me an estimate of 300 bucks if I buy the parts. Sounded a little steep to me, but said sure. He was out in our garage from 8am to 4pm working on my truck, with the passenger side being the worst. He had the air chisel, blue flame wrench, and a array of hand presses scattered on the floor. That was the best 300 bucks I have ever spent on that truck, just to keep my sanity.
