Ray charges to shorten one so that you can still use the modern timing chain cover and lower hose location.
I bought my '68 short water pump from NAPA back in '05, but it is a passenger side timing mark with a drivers side lower hose. With the timing marks on the passenger side you need the correct timing chain cover and harmonic balance to time the engine.
Not sure if you can use the old pump on the newer engine for clearances but probably, just can't time the engine.
