If you turbo you can leave the compression. It depends on the engine and if you ever want to run petrol. Some of these engines are as low as 6:1, you would be better with 7.5:1 with turbo. I think the turbo is the better option - for straight gas get compression up to 9.5 or even 10:1. Some other engines run higher still, but I wouldn't on these. Don't recall what the machining ratio is, would have to go search - you can probably find it on google.
