Front spindles on rear

My spindles on my rear axle are not in the best shape and I was wondering if it is possible to cut the old spindles off and bolt on front spindles to the backing plate flange? I am not sure if it would be strong enough, but if it is good enough for the front why not the rear. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
