You had two choices.
Chrysler was making a lot of garbage vehicles that no one wanted, and their sales reflected that. They didn't have the talent, the money or the management to put the company back on it's feet and make it competitive.
If Fiat would not have stepped in, Chrysler stood no chance of being a viable company and would have either been shuttered or sold off in parts. By your reckoning this would have been your choice.
However, Fiat did step in, infused Chrysler with cash, talent and teamwork, and Chrysler responded by making one of the most impressive corporate turn-arounds ever.
I much prefer to see Chrysler stay intact, keeping jobs here in the US. However, you certainly are welcome to your opinion, which most certainly would have cost a lot of US jobs. But hey, it would keep Fiat out and make you happy, right?
