I looked into the Cornhead grease option when I rebuilt my winch. I contacted the Manufacturer, and was told it wasn't speced or tested for worm gear use, I was on my own if I used it for worm gearing. Worm gears require a lubricant made especially for sliding contact, most gearsets are rolling contact. I decided to break in with an R/O mineral oil, followed by a Lubriplate synthetic wormgear oil.
