I haven't gotten that far (yet), but the Allpar site says that A's and LA's use the same bolt patterns.
Not sure about fitting late model bellhousings to the PW chassis, but the 435 should bolt up to the housing.
I am going with a 5.2 also. My M has a poly in it, but I want the fuel injection in it for easier winter starting. The A is going into the 38 sedan...
