I always use a good 2K high build filler primer when I do a body. Try to get it on as smooth as possible because it will make for less sanding. If it is smooth enough, you may not have to sand at all. When primer sanding, I use a flat rubber 3M squeegee from the local Napa with a wet piece of 400 grit. Don't use the plastic bondo squeegees, it won't work. Gotta be rubber! After sanding an area on the primer, squeegee the water off and you shouldn't see any mentionable pits or orange peel in the primer, it should be uniform. This may seem like an unnecessary pile of work to many, but the better your primer is finished, the better the color will finish. I agree with your choice of single stage. It looks good and is a better paint overall. It's a lot more forgiving to spray than base/clear and hides any defects way better than base/clear ever could. Just follow the directions and keep the gun moving and you will do just fine...
