I have been very fortunate that my Father-in-Law, who spent over 50 years with Battery and Starter, in Buffalo, NY is more than happy to offer advice and coach me with electrical repairs that don't require a lathe or specialized testers. When he retired, he gave me a small box of alternator bearings that he had. I've used a couple of them over the years.
Last time I was up there, we talked about a problem I'm having with an old Lincwelder 225 that I have. He is trying to find a coil tester that he thinks he has in the house.
He was truly a technician that repaired and properly rebuilt commercial alternators, starters and generators using only original equipment or US made components. He got me set up with electronic Lease-Neville voltage regulators on my all of my old Dodges.
