Steering wheel removal????

I have an old steering column from one of my PW's and I'm trying to figure out how to remove the steering wheel. The nut is off and all I see is a rusty washer and an old hornets nest from California with live hornets. Good news is here in Colorado the air is so gol dern thin, they are crawling out and dying. But regardless, how do I get that steering wheel off? THX in advance.
