On my job I drive about 3 to 4 hours each day of the week (each day is a different route) Then I make the same rounds week after week.
On route I saw a for sale sign on an older Ford Thunderbird. One of the "square birds," (1958, 59, and 60.) I watched for it each week, and had seen the man in the yard several times. I guessed him to be a man of at least 80 years of age.
Then the car was gone. But I spotted it in another guy's yard about 40 miles to the west. I sort of knew the guy so I stopped in.
We talked about the car, then he told me about the conversation regarding the price.
He asked the man -- how much for the car? The gentleman says oh I don't know how much would you give me for it? He says well I don't know I thought you would have a price on it. After a bit more of that sort of conversation the gentleman said ok, I will just hold my hand out here like this, you start piling hundred bills in it, and I let you know when I got enough of em.
Yeah. Like if that was going to happen. I got to remember that line next time I have got some thing to sell.
He obviously was "one of the good old boys."
