It just never occurred to me to hang the door first. It's so much easier to get my hammy arms inside if I have the freedom to maneuver the door around, rather than squatting down/up/down/up every time I need a screw or tool.
Though now that I'm thinking about it, I did make a small tool, bent from sheet metal, to aid in getting things positioned. Or maybe it was just to hold a stud from popping through a key hole prematurely. I'll seach tomorrow, both the junk boxes and my mind, to see if anything turns up.
