There is a difference between gunk, grim, and sludge. If you see the Ford commercial with Mike from “Dirty Jobs” and the engine that was short lived from gunk and grim, you’ll see the difference. A mistake people have made in cleaning the inside of there engine, is using a non-detergent motor oil or not changing the oil frequent enough and using a fast cutting cleaner. The cleaner doesn’t dissolve the varnish and carbon, it loosens it away to form clogs in passage ways either reducing the volume, or plugging passage ways and the oil filter resulting in internal damage to the engine.
