Hi Will,
There's a few reasons for a 28'...#1..it's very little heavier. #2...Of all the times I've traveled across country I've more often than not been loaded with parts. Often I haven't had enough room but I can't remember having too much room :) #3...& most importantly...many of the trucks I've towed have had HEAVY fire bodies or flatbeds & it's not the length...you need to have room on the deck to get enough tongue weight.
There's pretty much nothing worse than driving a trailer not weighted properly & that few extra feet makes a world of difference. #4...Most of the trucks I seem to tow are W500's & the cooler Dodges that are longer than the plain old WDX's ;) ;)
