It varies alot in our area. Not much in the way of pines and firs for sure but we have lots of hardwoods around. We burn whatever dies or is knocked down by mother nature. Our personal property doesn't have much oak but it's around here and can get quite large.
Hickory, Osage orange are real good but we don't have much of that either. Our woods has a lot of Sugar maple, Tulip Poplar, walnut, Cherry, Elm and Beech. Fence row woods are Mulberry, Box elder(soft maple) Hackberry and such. We really have a wide variety of trees here.
Pic below is the biggest we had. Nearly 6 ft in diameter Beech. We cut it up as remnants of a Hurricane blew the hole top out. Over 15 cord from one tree.
