Its an old hemi out of a 1958 Chrysler New Yorker. I have looked at hemis over the years and am always skeptical cause everyone says they have a 392 for sale and usually they are not.
Still these engines do pop up more often than one might think. When you consider they only made the 392 for two years and there was a recession in 1958, the number sold must have been quite small. I never have seen total production numbers. Apparently people rescued many of these engines from the scrap yard. By the time these engines were being scrapped out the hot rod community was looking for them. At least that's my theory.
