Those guards were not just a military part. They were also available on civilian Power-Wagons, although quite rare.
They first appeared in the July 1951 MoPar Parts List #D-13864 for Dodge Power-Wagons series WDX, B-1-PW, B-2-PW, and B-3-PW. They are shown as being new parts having never been previously listed. The part number is 1276 558 and they are called "GUARD, Headlamp".
They are carefully hidden in the parts book. You will not find them in the body section, headlight section, or radiator section. You have to look in the frame section under the "Front Bumper Guard" subsection - part type code: 13-68-32.
