If you're a good rookie blacksmith & you have the right rivets & tools...rivets are far superior. If you're not & you don't...the grade 8 bolts are adequate & a lot safer than a poorly installed rivet or the wrong rivets.
Riveting is really 2 man work & so bolts are certainly easier.
