Keep the tranny and buy a Dennan overdrive.
This gives you a "5th" overdrive gear and is electrically operated by a switch on the shifter. I have one as do several others on the forum and they work great. I have pulled trucks out of ditches as well as logs out of creek bottoms and have not had a problem with it in place.
IF you re-power with a stronger engine, then that's when you can get a more favorable transmission to drive the TC.
