the 540 came with od, but rare, it was not available on the wdxs or wms, and will bolt up without adaptation I have one and had it adapted to fit a cummins in the front and the flat fender yoke output, since sold the cummins and will have to readapt to the flathead if i use it, i thought the ptos on the 435 and 540 were the same but apparently I am mistaken and the ptos for the 540 are very hard to come by
my 540 has openings for ptos on both sides which i also here is rare, so unless I can find ptos down the road as i want to drive a winch out the front and who knows wht out the rear i will just run the crash box, more fun to drive
others have adapted 5 and 6 speeds but mostly to v8 and diesel conversion, don't recall anyone putting one behind a flathead
