Lets try to clarify a little.
Free play to me is the amount the rod travels before the piston in the master cylinder begins to move. 1/8" sounds good to me.
Overall pedal movement of what your saying before the brakes apply and stop sounds ok to me,as long as the pedal is firm(hard) and it stops straight and no fade.
