Sounds like a good idea. The inside bolt on the starter is a bear to get at with a wrench.
Even just using the slot and a screwdriver to speed the bolt out after the bolt was loosened with a wrench would have been a big help.
I ended up using flexible spring shaft and a socket after the bolt was loosened.
