If used and a bit beat, I'd just wrap in cardboard and call UPS.
If real nice, I'd use cheap plywood and some 3/4" pine to build a box around it, then wrap that in cardboard.
I hit the appliance store for cardboard, it comes in big pieces there, and the guys are glad to get rid of it without having to break it down for disposal.
Use drywall screws to build crates, that way the end user can disassemble to re-use the material for other projects- even a new crate.
