PTO out the rear

What is required to extend the rear PTO shaft to the back of the PW? My X-member has a larger hole in it just to the left of center. Is this used to support some sort of bearing for the shaft? Anybody have/use a rear PTO? What for... log splitter, hole auger, generator, what? Thanks!
