advice on repack of w200 closed dana 44

i am about to repack the front axle on my 70 w200 crew cab . it is dana 44 closed any advice or tricks would help . the only problem i have ( other than it looks like it has not been repacked in years) is that the driver side hub is very hard to engage. the truck is a xairforce crash truck and shows about 64k miles. thanks for any help
