I have noticed that I have to do considerable downshifting-not fun with strait gear transmission with my 4.89 gears. I changed mine original 5;83's before i had my truck on the road so i can't compare but I think if i were to do it again I wouldn't. I run 9x16 McCreary tires. On the flat roads the truck runs fast at the expense of power and I have a 251 engine in my PW.
