Is this a "fix-in-place no paint required" fix for those who may have an otherwise good original or restored hood with good paint and now find a need to repair only the hinge?
I agree on the windshield frame sentiments. There was at one time someone reproducing windshield frames for our trucks. They were available through a catlog called "Rick's". It was kind of a J.C. Whitney type catalog. I don't know what kind of quality they had but in the image shown in the catalog, they looked correct. They were advertised as being aluminum. I would assume they were solid core cast aluminum pieces instead of hollow core extrusions. For anyone interested in tackling such a project, producing cast aluminum parts may be cheaper in the long run than extruding the correct shape and then making the tooling to repeat the bends. I would have no problem using a solid aluminum cast windshield frame as long as the exterior surfaces and contours were correct.
