Great news the glass bowl sometimes has a brass screen in it. others have none. But i have seen some old fords with a glass bowel that was inline right before the pump with a small filter in it. On a DODGE POWER WAGON I HAVE NEVER SEEN A FILTER. On my WCs i have taken the original fuel line from the pump to the carb off and made a new steel line with a inline filter in it.
