Some of both types of usage for his truck.
Everybody's got stories of Brand X, Brand Y or Brand Z lasting a bajillion miles under heavy usage, and other people have their stories of the same brands not lasting 100 miles, though they only carrying pies to the Sunday social.
Every brand has their bad years till the bugs are worked out, when it looks like their products are all terrible. And they all have their great years, too.
Like the Dodge Boys said above, drive what you like. Your mileage may vary. I've met people who love their Dodges, others who hate them, others who love their Fords, others who hate 'em, etc. I guess maybe I need to go look at Consumer Reports to get something close to the real story. Of course, then, someone will chime in and tell me that Consumer Reports is lying, and that their sampling of tens or hundreds of thousands of owners is not as accurate as that person's own experience with a few dozen trucks. LOL.
