Well, before I could continue on the "Brake" job on the 46, I had to fabricate a new dash insulator. I made a poster board pattern, and then proceeded to cut out a 1/2" thick of automotive Thinsulate(TM) and some roofing rubber.
The Thinsulate(TM) is tough to cut, but so was the rubber. Rather than cutting the entire hanging pedal area out of the insulator, I cut out only enough for simple installation and not interfere with the pedals. Cutting this way should also help it hang better as well.
After using some heavy duty contact adhesive to put the pieces together, I then used some rubberized undercoating to give the interior side a flat textured surface. (I did this on a sample first to be sure it worked).
Now I'm back to brake work, hanging the pedals, booster and master cylinders.
