Voltage Regulator

I am getting a buildup of corrosion on the battery terminals, on the battery hold down and inside of the battery box. I have taken all out to clean and repaint. But, I need to find the cause as this has only been together for about two years. I believe that the build up is due to excessive voltage going into the battery.
The original voltage regulator is on the truck (a 48 PW). Will a New Voltage regulator solve the problem? Thanks in advance.
