The rivet holes are always a skosh big, like 13/32" instead of 3/8, so I drilled to 7/16.
And some guys claim grade 8 is necessary, but the rivets were not THAT hard, so I use grade 5.
But I also used bolts with a bit of unthreaded shank. Better shear strength that way. On some I had to buy longer bolts to get the clean shank. Others extra longer shank bolts and thread them more.
And I used side lock nuts, they self lock. Plus lock washers, more as washers than lockers.
But what do I know? I'm not an engineer, only a wrench bender.
